For approved immigrant petitions with available visa numbers; processed outside the U.S. for those ineligible for Adjustment of Status in the U.S. or as an alternative to Adjustment of Status. The process to secure a green card from outside the U.S., through a U.S. consulate or embassy.

Objective
Varies by category and consular post; National Visa Center (NVC) pre-processing, 3-6 months, followed by interview.
